Danielle Morley

As a marine biologist for just shy of two decades, my work is a way to document the biodiversity that I see exhibited in the marine world.  Art was actually one of the primary reasons I was originally drawn to the sciences.  The exceptional precision and detail in works of early naturalists such as Ernst Haeckel and Basilius Belser appealed to both my aesthetics and my curiosity about the world around me.. The meticulousness of their works, coupled with the exactness of pen and ink, appealed to my detail-oriented mind and forced me to be very deliberate in my composition.  

By providing small, specific pieces highlighting one organism at a time, I hope to pique the curiosity of the viewer and invite them to learn more by examining the details.
