Artist statement

My goal is to capture the happiness and subtle whimsey of everyday life in the Florida Keys. The unique lifestyle and diverse environment of the Key’s creates the perfect subject matter for my pieces and paintings. I want to bring out the bright colors and the whimsical scenes that is all around us here in the Keys, from the unique marine life to the endangered Key Deer, along with the flora and fauna.

To the creative eye the keys are dynamic, something as simple as the color of the water changing with the weather, each sunrise and sunset are different if only for a second giving moments in time that will change in the blink of an eye Being present in those moments and capturing such scenes is the gift that the Key’s keeps on giving. I want to present those images sharing them with the public so everyone can take a little piece of the Keys with them. Life, like art is a song, a lyrical motion that the islands provide, so this is what I want to capture in all my work.

I attended 4 years at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and then 2 years at Butera School of Art, Boston, where I studied painting and graphic design. Never one to follow traditions, I happened upon motorcycle and hotrod painting commissions while still in college. It blossomed to national and international accounts from musicians and radio stations to clubs and corporations.

For thirty years I have painted every surface out there, helicopters, planes, swimming pool bottoms, drum sets, wall murals, motorcycles, double decker buses, race boats, race cars, pipe organs, window glass, and much more. Magazines, books, hotrod and motorcycle events, restaurant and club openings has featured my work. Museum shows in New York and Europe has featured my artwork on motorcycles.

Landing finally in the Florida Keys and Key West has brought me full circle with my artwork, I am excited to live here and to create my art here, not letting a specific media define me, but to be open to all concepts of art and sharing my work with the Key West public, locals, and visitors alike
