Karen Ward

Karen Ward found her way to the Florida Keys from Maine in 1996 when she followed her best friend. That was the first time she saw a palm tree and when she had dinner at Turtle Kraals and a cat sat next to her as the sun set over the ocean coloring the sky and water in unbelievable oranges, reds and yellows, she knew it would become home. Years later, she married and had her son and then became aware of having multiple sclerosis. Because of the diagnosis, her work life shifted and she decided to pursue art full time. She sells her photography prints, note cards, book marks, and coasters at the Hemingway home in Key West and wood burning, shou sugi ban wood burning and epoxy art at Shady Palm gallery. She also teaches sewing classes at Shady Palm gallery in their classroom. Her art is whimsical and captures the vibrant sunsets and silhouettes of palm trees in almost every piece.
